Things I’ve Learned from 2017

Things I’ve Learned from 2017
  1. Walk Away

It’s okay to walk away. Sometimes it’s for the best. Break ups suck and I think everyone can agree on that. This relationship that I am talking about caused me so much pain emotionally and mentally. I couldn’t eat or sleep and I had a knot in my stomach for months. Since I know what staying in an uncomfortable relationship or any situation feel like I can honestly say to you… walk away! Get out, run for your life, trust me you’ll be thanking me later. It’s going to hurt no doubt but after you pick yourself back up you’ll feel so much better.

2. Try New Things

Get out of your comfort zone! This year I got a helix piercing (I’m terrified of needles). It really wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, although it takes forever to heal. I also tried yoga! Let me tell you I am obsessed with it now. I always feel so much better after going into the studio for a good work out. I met new people which is a big deal for me! I don’t do people well, I’m very awkaward. I hope to meet more in 2018 and get further out of my comfort zone.

3. Sometimes you just need your best friend!

I have a few people I call best friends. Each one is there for me in their own way. Life is never simple but sometime you just need someone outside of the situation to get advice from. And sometimes you just need a hug!

4. Stay focused on your goals

I know it’s hard being busy all the time. Life happens and sometimes plans change. But at least if you have goals then you will be able to keep an end goal in mind.

5. Take Care of yourself

Nothing is worth your well being. Don’t let grades or other people get in the way of how you decide to care for yourself. I personally do not believe that finals are worth losing sleep over. This is my thought because I know if I change my sleep pattern then I will be miserable with a migraine. Know your body and don’t over do it. If your not feeling 100% then you will not be giving 100%.

Back To School Skin Care

Back To School Skin Care

Going back to school can be a very trying time. When school starts getting stressful the last thing you want is to be dealing with an annoying break out. This is how I keep my skin under control during school. I like to keep things easy with four simple products that you can find at any drugstore. Remember these are my honest opinions, I do not get paid by any of the brands that I talk about. DSC_0014

1.) Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Face Mask ($17 Sephora). If you have never used a charcoal mask they really clear the skin. This one helps pull the dirt from inside the pores to the surface and add a nice healthy glow to the skin. I use this when I’m writing papers or know I will be just having a nice relaxing night in. Either way I always feel so much more relaxed while wearing this mask.

2.) Cetaphil Oil Control Foaming Wash ($10 Traget). I have been using this wash since I was fifteen and I can not stop raving about it. Every time I get asked what I use to make my skin clear I always say Cetaphil or Neutrogena. I use this wash every other day and on nights I need a little extra oil reduction.

3. Neutrogena Acne Wash ($7 Target) is a total life saver! If I ever have a break out this is the first product I reach for. This makes any pimples go away in the shortest amount of time. I also have an issue with oil and this really helps make me feel less oily through out the day. This product I use every morning and evening and could never leave for a vacation without it.

4.)Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Moisturizer ($20 at Ulta Beauty). Some may use this as a all over moisturizer but since I have combination skin which at this point right now has been way more oily then it has been in a long time. I like to just use this on my under eye area which add a brightening effect under my makeup but also makes me feel more awake. In the picture above is a sample size which I have been using for a while now. For me if I use a little amount

My Travel Makeup Bag

My Travel Makeup Bag

I wanted to start with this bag just because my makeup collection is so large I can only take a small amount of products with me. I recently picked this bag up from a store called Dazzle Up and is designed by N Girl . (I don’t get money from any store that I talk about as I just started writing. These are my honest opinions of these products.) What I liked about this bag at first glance was the design. Once I was putting actual products into it I noticed that it holds so much stuff! Needless to say I was so excited!foundation

I have only picked a few of my favorite makeup products to put into this post. I wanted to make sure I was able to give a reasonable review or thoughts about each products. So the first one is my trusty Maybelline Fit Me foundation in 125. I have been using this foundation for years! Every time I try a new foundation this is my safety blanket I get it just in case I don’t like the new one that am testing. I love the lightness of the formula which is low to build able coverage. It feels like I’m not putting anything on. I like this because I don’t breakout much so I don’t feel the need to cover my skin up with much of anything.  I’m always trying new stuff but I think this will be my backup for a long time.eye studio

I have really sensitive eyes and I prefer to use a liquid liner on my top lash line and this Maybelline Eye Studio gel liner on my waterline. It took me a long time to find a type of liner that would not make my eyes itchy or watery. This liner does it for me! It’s easy to apply, it stays on, you should try it!The falsies

The holy grail of mascaras! I can not tell you enough try this mascara if you ever get the chance! It makes lashes look long and bold. The wand in this mascara is curved to fit the natural curve of the lashes. It’s been a go to product for me since I started wearing makeup years ago, but when it’s this good its hard to part with it. I try to always have one in my makeup bag.Hoola

I feel like this is one of the most talked about bronzes of all time. But to be honest it is pretty good and I love the texture and blend ability. It comes with a little bronzing brush but to be honest I never used it. They also have a lighter version called Hoola Light but I have not seen what that actually looks like recently enough to tell you what it looks like. But I love this bronzer and it has really helped me keep a bronzed glow even though I’ve been out of the sun all summer long.

What are some new products I should try?

Finding My Confidence

Finding My Confidence

Confidence is not something that many people just have. For me it was an event about 6 months ago that helped me really find my worth. I thought I would share what brought me to a place I thought I would never get to in my life. When I was in high school I did things for myself like going to school every day and having a job.

These things in my story are irreverent other than to prove I’m ordinary. I believe it was my junior year when something clicked.  I started losing weight, not on purpose but it made me feel better about myself. I believe the weight loss was due to being so busy and just eating small amounts at a time. (I’m not a nutritionist). I also started watch a youtuber named Tanya Burr. If you have never seen her videos they are so up lifting and she always seems so happy. I seriously suggest going to check her out. A lot of her videos are makeup tutorials which I watched and learned how to replicate. At this point in my life I also started doing all my friends make up too. It was the start of my obsession with makeup.

Skip forward to my first year in college and I went though my first relationship. When  that ended I was completely crushed feeling like I would never get over it. I was so down on my self for a few weeks until I realized. I can’t change what happened. I can’t control the decisions of others and I just need to go with the flow. I decided I was going to do what was best for me. When I started eating again after the break up (I was to upset to eat during the whole thing). I was consciously trying to making better eating choices. I went to the gym everyday that I did not go to my day job. I liked feeling like I was in control of something again.

I also started dressing differently, I go to an all women college so I had no reason to do my makeup or wear anything other than leggings everyday. I just randomly started doing my makeup everyday again and wearing nice clothes and all of sudden boom I was speaking to new people, talking in class instead of just listening. I did not even notice this change until one of my friends told me she wished she had my confidence. I was honestly taken back when she said this but I believe it was my understanding that I can’t change others and I can only control myself. I only want to do what’s best for me and the people I love. My confidence came from loving myself and reminding myself that I love myself and that’s how it should be.

I am no size zero, but learning to love myself and my decisions has made me want to judge myself less. More suggestions I have are…

  1. Talk to your friends
  2. Keep your support system close
  3. Make time for yourself.

I know making time for yourself can be difficult but you will love yourself later for it.  You don’t have to spend a lot of time on just you but a few minutes everyday will make you feel so much better about yourself. If you enjoyed reading this please share somethings that make you feel confident or things that make you happy. Thank you for reading!

Meet Daisy

Meet Daisy

I basically play with dogs all day everyday. My favorite however is my own. Her name is Daisy. Daisy is a pit bull and she is such a sweet heart. I found her in a parking lot on Black Friday of 2016. I always freak out when I see animals just wondering around with any one trying to help them. It breaks my heart so I stopped opened my door and after a few minutes I was able to get her in the car (I’ve never had a dog come as easily as she has when I have tried to help them). She had no collar or tags so I took her to the veterinarian near by to see if she had a microchip, she didn’t. So I brought her home and she being the spunky little girl that she is made herself right at home. To be honest at this point I was already in love with her.

Skip Forward a few weeks after my parents told me I could keep her. I took her to the vet to get her shots, and to get her microchiped. I highly recommend getting your pet microchiped. If they get lost and lose their collar and tags, it is a reassurance that you will get them back. Microchips cost $20-$50 but it could save you a little heart break in the future.

In March we found out that Daisy was heartworm positive. This is a very dangerous and deadly disease for dogs. Needless to say I was devastated.  Daisy and I are very lucky that she has very knowledgeable doctors. She has been treated now and is on the road to recovery. I’m so excited for her to get better so she can return to doing things that make her happy such as going to the dog park and daycare. She will also be joining me on some of the adventures that I hope to go on and post about!

You can follow Daisy on Instagram @Daisy9999, she doesn’t post much but she is still cute!

Confidence in Summer Looks

Confidence in Summer Looks

I’ve never felt better about myself than I have this summer so far. I have picked several outfits that make me feel confident and happy in my own skin as everyone should. It has taken me years to feel this way, and even though I am not a size 0 it is completely okay. So here are my picks for my summer outfits. Feel free to leave a comment sharing your favorite outfit with others!Blue Dresscute dressThe perfect dress for summer can be found just about anywhere! I have found mine at H&M by Divided. This was a surprise find as I was traveling when I found it. Since it was on sale I couldn’t resist! What drew me in to this dress was the style and the blue and white Aztec pattern.  I have been trying to find more patterns to put into my wardrobe and thought this would be an easy one to wear. I like to dress this with a pair of classic white tennis shoes. Which I have found go well with anything from a plain t-shirt and jeans to dresses for a more casual look. The white shoes that I have are by Airwalk, I love them!

Fun and Fit

Who needs a tank top to wear all year long? The answer is you do! I think I got this top during the winter time. It’s perfect to wear under sweaters, but as it has been 100 degrees recently I have been wearing it alone. I struggle to find tank tops that I do not fall out of but this one is exactly what I wanted.

Another long time to find item in my wardrobe would be these brown sandals. Which I have been trying to find for over a year. These came from the Shoe Department by a brand called Report. Ever since that day I have been pairing them with everything from dresses to causal outfits. I love the straps and that they look like a pair from Ancient Greece brand a few year ago. Which was the reason I was looking for brown sandals in the first place. They are also so comfortable to wear!

Torrid Shorts 2Torrid Shorts

These shorts though! I being the true shop-alcoholic that I am went to the mall in search of something that I don’t remember now and found these shorts. They are from Torrid’s own brand. My favorite part is the lace on the legs, I also like that I wear a size 0 in Torrid’s clothes. Which is a plus size brand. Torrid is designed to give plus size women an opportunity to wear cute outfits that would normally be offered to someone of a smaller size. I can’t tell you how much I love this brand! I highly suggest you check it out. These shorts are also very light for those very hot days.

I wore this white lace top by Merona with a pair of jean shorts and brown sandals listed above to a Chainsmokers concert at the start of this summer. That night I had so much fun and I was completely comfortable! This shirt is so breathable and easy to move in. I don’t know where you could get it but if you leave a comment I will look for one that is similar.

I hope you have enjoyed this post! Leave a comment!
