Going back to school can be a very trying time. When school starts getting stressful the last thing you want is to be dealing with an annoying break out. This is how I keep my skin under control during school. I like to keep things easy with four simple products that you can find at any drugstore. Remember these are my honest opinions, I do not get paid by any of the brands that I talk about.
1.) Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Face Mask ($17 Sephora). If you have never used a charcoal mask they really clear the skin. This one helps pull the dirt from inside the pores to the surface and add a nice healthy glow to the skin. I use this when I’m writing papers or know I will be just having a nice relaxing night in. Either way I always feel so much more relaxed while wearing this mask.
2.) Cetaphil Oil Control Foaming Wash ($10 Traget). I have been using this wash since I was fifteen and I can not stop raving about it. Every time I get asked what I use to make my skin clear I always say Cetaphil or Neutrogena. I use this wash every other day and on nights I need a little extra oil reduction.
3. Neutrogena Acne Wash ($7 Target) is a total life saver! If I ever have a break out this is the first product I reach for. This makes any pimples go away in the shortest amount of time. I also have an issue with oil and this really helps make me feel less oily through out the day. This product I use every morning and evening and could never leave for a vacation without it.
4.)Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Moisturizer ($20 at Ulta Beauty). Some may use this as a all over moisturizer but since I have combination skin which at this point right now has been way more oily then it has been in a long time. I like to just use this on my under eye area which add a brightening effect under my makeup but also makes me feel more awake. In the picture above is a sample size which I have been using for a while now. For me if I use a little amount
Confidence is not something that many people just have. For me it was an event about 6 months ago that helped me really find my worth. I thought I would share what brought me to a place I thought I would never get to in my life. When I was in high school I did things for myself like going to school every day and having a job.
These things in my story are irreverent other than to prove I’m ordinary. I believe it was my junior year when something clicked. I started losing weight, not on purpose but it made me feel better about myself. I believe the weight loss was due to being so busy and just eating small amounts at a time. (I’m not a nutritionist). I also started watch a youtuber named Tanya Burr. If you have never seen her videos they are so up lifting and she always seems so happy. I seriously suggest going to check her out. A lot of her videos are makeup tutorials which I watched and learned how to replicate. At this point in my life I also started doing all my friends make up too. It was the start of my obsession with makeup.
Skip forward to my first year in college and I went though my first relationship. When that ended I was completely crushed feeling like I would never get over it. I was so down on my self for a few weeks until I realized. I can’t change what happened. I can’t control the decisions of others and I just need to go with the flow. I decided I was going to do what was best for me. When I started eating again after the break up (I was to upset to eat during the whole thing). I was consciously trying to making better eating choices. I went to the gym everyday that I did not go to my day job. I liked feeling like I was in control of something again.
I also started dressing differently, I go to an all women college so I had no reason to do my makeup or wear anything other than leggings everyday. I just randomly started doing my makeup everyday again and wearing nice clothes and all of sudden boom I was speaking to new people, talking in class instead of just listening. I did not even notice this change until one of my friends told me she wished she had my confidence. I was honestly taken back when she said this but I believe it was my understanding that I can’t change others and I can only control myself. I only want to do what’s best for me and the people I love. My confidence came from loving myself and reminding myself that I love myself and that’s how it should be.
I am no size zero, but learning to love myself and my decisions has made me want to judge myself less. More suggestions I have are…
- Talk to your friends
- Keep your support system close
- Make time for yourself.
I know making time for yourself can be difficult but you will love yourself later for it. You don’t have to spend a lot of time on just you but a few minutes everyday will make you feel so much better about yourself. If you enjoyed reading this please share somethings that make you feel confident or things that make you happy. Thank you for reading!
I basically play with dogs all day everyday. My favorite however is my own. Her name is Daisy. Daisy is a pit bull and she is such a sweet heart. I found her in a parking lot on Black Friday of 2016. I always freak out when I see animals just wondering around with any one trying to help them. It breaks my heart so I stopped opened my door and after a few minutes I was able to get her in the car (I’ve never had a dog come as easily as she has when I have tried to help them). She had no collar or tags so I took her to the veterinarian near by to see if she had a microchip, she didn’t. So I brought her home and she being the spunky little girl that she is made herself right at home. To be honest at this point I was already in love with her.
Skip Forward a few weeks after my parents told me I could keep her. I took her to the vet to get her shots, and to get her microchiped. I highly recommend getting your pet microchiped. If they get lost and lose their collar and tags, it is a reassurance that you will get them back. Microchips cost $20-$50 but it could save you a little heart break in the future.
In March we found out that Daisy was heartworm positive. This is a very dangerous and deadly disease for dogs. Needless to say I was devastated. Daisy and I are very lucky that she has very knowledgeable doctors. She has been treated now and is on the road to recovery. I’m so excited for her to get better so she can return to doing things that make her happy such as going to the dog park and daycare. She will also be joining me on some of the adventures that I hope to go on and post about!
You can follow Daisy on Instagram @Daisy9999, she doesn’t post much but she is still cute!
